MADE-TO-MEASURE ONLINE
Madrid based Santamaria Shirtmakers launch a new e-boutique
In recent years, made-to-measure fashion has become ever more affordable, with highstreet retailers like Reiss and Marks and Spencer offering their own in house services. If you, like me, have difficulty finding the perfect "off-the-peg" fit, this has come as an absolute god send. Now, there's competition online, from a new generation of e-boutiques.
Santamaria Shirtmakers is a new online venture from master tailor Ramón Santamaria, who has been creating shirts for over 30 years. The aim is to offer a high end tailoring experience to a wider audience.
The service centers around a 3D image that can be manipulated to create the perfect combination of fabric, collar, cuff, pocket, placket and thread colour. Fabrics, imported directly from Italy, range from plain and patterned poplin to linens and seersucker (from £79). There are ten collar styles including classic spread and rounded club, and nine styles for cuffs. Once you've decided on the perfect combination, measurements are entered and Santamaria's expert tailors set to work.
The service comes with a "fit guarantee" and if so if your first shirt doesn't fit, it will be remade until you're completely happy. Find out more about Santamaria shirt makers here.
