THE ITALIAN JOB: FENWICK

Sophisticated Italian casualwear

I recently dropped by Fenwick's Bond Street store to take a look at the newly expanded menswear department. I was extremely impressed by a refined collection of Italian tailoring from the likes of  Boglioli, Aspesi and Lardini. These brands, although a mainstay of Pitti Uomo, are still largely unknown here in the UK.

Family run Boglioli, based in Brescia, Italy, produces luxurious lightweight tailoring, and typifies the new collection. Stand out pieces included a beautifully tailored stretch-cotton blazer (£734) and a trim pair of linen-blend trousers (£190). Whereas Massimo Alba, a brand that exemplifies casual Italian elegance, has produced some exclusive pieces for Fenwick, including a double-breasted mohair suit (£1,055) and a Nehru-collar jacket with trousers (£985).

Luigi Lardini's epoymous label has become synonymous with relaxed Italian tailoring. I'm a particular fan of its incredible knitted outwear, exemplified by its beautifully cut cardigan coats (£330).
