RAY BAN

DOUBLE BRIDGE

So what do Carry Grant, Muhammad Ali and Patrick Bateman all have in common? They're all fans of Ray-Ban, the storied eyeware brand that has been continuously cool for more than five decades. Responsible for the Wayfarer, Aviator and Clubmaster, Ray-Ban is an integral player in the history of American fashion, history and culture. Ray-ban started out making glasses for pilots in the US Army, and soon civilians started to follow.

Then in the 50's, when the 24-year old James Dean wore the classic Wayfarer, they became a symbol of youthful rebellion. The critic Steven Bayley has written that Wayfarer's "distinctive trapezoidal frame spoke a nonverbal language that hinted at dangerousness." That's probably why Bob Dylan and Debbie Harry followed suit.

Now, they've done it again with the new Round Double Bridge frame. It's called that, quite simply, because it has two bridges. Like the Wayfarer and Aviator, they combine classic cool and a contemporary edge. There's nothing wildly unusual about them, but if you want to keep the sun out of your eyes, this slick style is a great choice for any modern gentleman.
