AMEDEO

A classic reborn

In recent years the sale of men's jewellery has rocketed. Not so long ago most men would have felt uncomfortable wearing anything more than a wedding band and a classic timepiece. Now, all that has changed. This is, in part, due to the trend for men's bracelets which are, arguably, the easiest thing to wear. Once the preserve of dapper Italian's, such as Alessandro Squarzi and Luca Rubinacci, with the explosion of Instagram and menswear bloggers, plenty of us are now giving them a go.

With this in mind Mr Charlie Day and Ms Francesca Pezzarossa at Farone Mennela have been telling me all about Amedeo. A contemporary take on the ancient art of cameo making, Amedeo strikes a balance between artisanal craftsmanship and rakish rock'n'role cool. Each and every piece is hand carved in Italy, by skilled craftsmen who have learnt their trade through generations. No longer the preserve of your grandmother, these witty, contemporary designs pack a real sartorial punch.

A particular favorite of mine are these sardonyx and carnelian bow bracelets (an item firmly on my wish list), which will work well with anything from fine watches and tailoring to casual days in jeans and a t-shirt. Starting at £200 they are available now from Farone Mennella, 28 Lowndes Street, London, in a variety of colours and designs.
